American Top Team members Cole Miller, Sam McCoy, Charles McCarthy, Matthew Scott, Din Thomas, Jason Patino, Mario Rinaldo and Jeff Monson have landed spots on the roster of the ATT-heavy 2009 US Grappling World Team coached by ATT head coach and co-owner Ricardo Liborio.
The US Grappling World Team will compete in the 2009 FILA World Grappling Championships in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on December 12 and 13. The US team won last year in both gi and no-gi.
- Former UFC lightweight Din Thomas will compete in the gi 145.5-pound division. Thomas is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt under Liborio.
- Current UFC lightweight Cole Miller will compete in the gi 163-pound division. Miller is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu brown belt under Liborio.
- Bodog Fight veteran Mario Rinaldi will compete in the no-gi absolute division.
- Former UFC heavyweight title contender Jeff Monson will compete in the no-gi absolute division.
- Former UFC middleweight Charles McCarthy, who retired after UFC 83 in April 2008, will compete in the gi 264.5-pound division. McCarthy received his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt in May under Liborio.
- Sam McCoy, a student under Marcel Ferreira at ATT Deerfield, will compete in the gi 211.5-pound division.
- Matthew Scott, who submitted both his opponents in under a minute at the team trials, will compete in the gi 163-pound division.
- Jason Patino will compete in the gi 132-pound division.
